Meet the Fabulous-Wonderful Mrs. P and family!

I feel like I'm doing a little of "who's who" in my 5 yr old's life! Meet one of her absolutely amazing, fabulous, wonderful teachers. My little one has been at the same school for 4 years and was lucky enough to have the same teacher for her 2nd and 3rd years at the school. I thought we were in trouble when she had to move on (for a five year old, she's pretty loyal and doesn't really love change - she really thought the sun rose and the moon set because of her teacher! She was so loving and incredible with my little one) The first month was a little rough - and I think she gave the new teachers a run for their money. But I was thrilled she got this amazing teacher and her partner - they are absolutely the sweetest.

I loved getting to meet and photograph her family! (although her first name kept causing me major chest pain - I was raised to know that every teacher's first name is Mrs!!) Thanks, Mrs. P, for asking me to capture your family! and thanks even more for continuing to make S feel like a rockstar at school.

my future son-in-law!!

alright, nobody panic, they're 5!! But seriously my 5 year old came home from her pre-k class at the beginning of this year and announced that she was going to marry J - the little one in this image below. Who wouldn't have a crush on this little guy - his eyes are enough to melt any 5 yr old girl (and my guess is he'll be on the track to collecting hearts as he grows!) Both of these boys have those sweet faces - with a little bit of the twinkle in the eyes that make you want to giggle a little.

I had a blast on this session and this family was awesome - and really, I wouldn't mind them as in-laws! Thanks, guys, you were great!!

and what a cute family they are!! Love this family shot of them

truly, I live for these shots... love how sweet these boys are together and there's nothing better than capturing those moments when they're having fun

this is where the real fun is!! these two are serious about their basketball - check out those shoes!! loved this whole session...but this series of shots were some of my absolute favorites!! I love when the kids bring something they love - it just makes their faces light up and they completely forget the camera's there.

Spanish Beauties

WARNING: Extreme beauty ahead!!

Seriously, these girls are so beautiful I couldn't believe it wile I was photographing!! and they are sweet as can be! They totaled suffered through having to hear how bad my Spanish has gotten and never even complained!! They are here from Spain studying and welcoming a new little niece/granddaughter to the world! (really - living in Miami, my Spanish should be getting better, but it has definitely taken a turn for the worse and I think I actually said they should get pregnant instead of when I meant to say they should hug:!) oh dear!!

now you'll see where the girls get it from....the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...their mom is equally as beautiful!

Newness

welcome to the world!! when I arrived this little guy slept like a champ and we were able to capture so many moments... and thanks to Mom who prepared everything just as I asked!! (sorry to the dad - it really was a sauna!!! it works so great to have the house so warm that when you take off the bundling and photograph, the baby doesn't even notice and continues to sleep and let us do our work!!)

Isn't he just yummy??

bits and pieces

this mom was a little concerned that he had so much of that shedding skin every newborn has the first few weeks, but I'm in love with that we could capture these images of the sweetness that only comes with baby newness! (is that a word??) - it passes so fast and before you know it, he'll be running and jumping and heading off to kindergarten.... and these sweet little nothing details of the first few days will be forgotten... except now we have this precious moment in time captured to remind us how sweet these first few weeks really are

this little guy was an absolute gem!! he must have smiled the entire time - he was such a happy little guy! We even got to have an added bonus of having his older brother and sister join in at the beginning.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!

Love the light!

you can't tell that it was freezing!! The sun started to dip and it turned really cold, but the reward was this amazing and beautiful light!!

isn't she just gorgeous?? love this one of the two of them!

FINALLY!!!

This was a session I wasn't sure would ever happen!! We scheduled forever ago and the little guy took a huge tumble and ended up with a scrape that even photoshop couldn't remedy! Then we rescheduled and there was another mishap... third time the charm?? not a chance, RAIN!!! I seriously began to think this session was cursed!! But all things happen for a reason, and I think this was the most beautiful reason of all. When we were finally able to find a new date it just happened to be the day after the grandparents arrived for a visit... so what was to be a family session for 3 ended up being the sweetest session with both sets of grandparents!!

so wonderful to see so many grandparents and capturing these images that only grow more special with time!

timeless

Does anybody remember the book "don't sweat the small stuff?" I loved that book, and would read a few pages every evening - trying to memorize how to be calm in a storm, how to focus on the important stuff and forget all the rest. This family always gives me the feeling that they've conquered and embodied the practice of not sweating the small stuff! They seem so calm and really give off such a sweet peace about them!

I was so excited to hear they were in from Spain and pregnant with their next little guy! I was even more thrilled when they made time for a photo session! I'm not sure why or how, but my sessions with them just seem to bring about magic and a timeless quality to the images. Congratulations, H Family!! I truly look forward to seeing you the next visit this side of the ocean and meeting your new family member!

Winter in Miami

i'm hoping you can't tell that this family was withstanding teeth chattering, bigger than life goosebumps, and a wind that was cutting straight through to the bone!! It was seriously the COLDEST day in Miami history!! When I got out of my car to start this session, the temperature gauge read 54 degrees!!! IN MIAMI!!!

These guys were great!! It's so much fun to get to meet the families that come together to have their photo sessions - I really love seeing all the ribbing and laughing, and generally just the having a great time together that being with family brings!

I'll be posting a few more sneak peeks this evening... so excited to see what 2011 will bring! Happy New Year!

sweet grandma time!
